Due to changes in KOTH over time. There are still some people who play KOTH who remember different configurations for several options that have a direct affect on gameplay.
Marksmen Perk – A change was made some time ago that was completely unnecessary. The marksmen perk used to allow access to marksmen rifles. This was changed sometime ago to also include scopes. This arbitrarily restricted scope choice. The Marksmen perk is required even when not using a marksmen rifle, even though it is simply down to player choice what scope you may wish on any weapon.. This has a direct affect on perk choice when going to the AO requiring an additional perk simply for scope. Possibly one of the most annoying changes ever made.
There is no need for a BIPOD perk. Every gun that can have a bipod should have one.
ONE TIME PURCHASE FOR WEAPONS
Titan AT + AA launchers being single purchase discourages their use. They were the strength of infantry units. Both for spawn defence and AO combat. There is a severely reduced use of these things in game. Tanks, Helicopter and jet advantages are greater with reduced use of titan launchers.
Saving up to permanent buy these was always a goal. They are excellent for base defence, when overwhelmingly other teams are controlling the match. In situations where people are not spending money, infantry with low expense can effect serious spawn defence. This single change has greatly effected infantry gameplay on militarised servers.
A gun is a gun, with it own characteristics SPMG and NAVID one time buys are arbitrary and unnecessary, if the argument is they are OP then simply make permanent buy prohibitorily expensive. ( A recent example of this is APDS becoming available for permanent purchase )
A permanent buy for Titan AT / AA / SPMG / Navid of $500,000 is not unreasonable. And would give people something to grind for.
In addition to all this, from discussions had with others, the idea that people play infantry servers because people get shit on when playing the militarised servers is quite common. New people to Arma get easy access to KOTH because no mods are required to download. Being good with vehicles and aircraft takes time and skill, it can simply be easier and less expensive to get a gun and go to the AO on infantry than having to learn the map and vehicle pro's / con's without getting shit on every time they leave spawn unable to get to the AO and without the money / experience to buy expensive AA or AT vehicles to be able to play in a match.
